Home Show Junior Design Challenge

Home Show Junior Design Challenge

Presented by the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City

This thought-provoking and educational interior design competition is open to all Kansas City metro area junior high and high school students. Playing the role of interior designer, each student was asked to design a room based on the theme and criteria. Semi-finalists have been invited to the Home Show on Friday, March 23 to present their designs on stage. From there, four finalists will be selected for a live challenge on Saturday, March 24 during the Greater Kansas City Home Show. The final on-site project will be judged by a panel of experts in the design field and the winner will be announced on Sunday, March 25 at 11:50 a.m. Click here for more information on the competition!

The KC Manufacturing and Design Expo (KC MADE) is an opportunity for high school students to showcase their talents in the fields of carpentry and metalwork. Students from six high schools will display more than 35 projects during the Greater Kansas City Home Show and will be judged by a panel of industry professionals. Come see these beautiful pieces created by talented young craftsmen and vote for your favorite! Schools include Basehor/LinwoodBonner Springs High School, Lee’s Summit High SchoolNorthland Career CenterShawnee Mission West and Chester Lewis Academy in Wichita.

A Greater KC Home Show tradition! An impressive feature showcasing the work of area landscapers as they transform Bartle Hall into a plush, spring garden oasis. Local landscapers will showcase their best outdoor designs around Tuff Shed structures of various sizes and shapes, which will be decorated by local designers to show the wide variety of uses possible. Perhaps a She Shed with space for crafting or yoga; possibly a tricked out Man Cave with all the tools a guy could want; you may see an elegant potting shed; the kids may be entranced by a play house sized just for them; or, possibly, a tropical pool house. We can’t wait to see what the designers come up with! The Greater Kansas City Home Show’s Kids Zone, sponsored by Backyard Specialists, is a fun and interactive area for children to play and learn. The Mad Scientist and musician Ry Kincaid will be performing in the Kids Zone both Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25. Bring the kids and watch them play on the latest backyard playground equipment and engage in interactive activities happening all weekend long!
